Lakes, raves and you.

Every rave instance runs on a datacenter, and every datacenter is thirsty. The VRTERM ESG desk measures the environmental cost of your social life in the only unit that matters: lakes.

Lake Bufferbloat: water level vs. rave attendance

Lake Bufferbloat has supplied cooling water to the region's datacenters since it was invented for this page. Every Friday, attendance at a single 80-person rave instance rises, the tails start swinging, and the lake goes down. Every Saturday the DJ says one more.

Dual chart over one weekend. A blue area for lake water level falls from 100 percent on Friday to 6 percent on Sunday, while an orange line for rave attendance climbs to the 80-person cap and stays there. Annotations read 'physbones on', 'DJ: one more' and 'two fish remaining, both furious'.
Correlation is not causation. In this case it is also causation.

The water is real. These numbers are not.

Every figure on this page is invented for a joke, including Lake Bufferbloat, its fish and every litre in every table. None of it is a measurement of any real platform, world, event or datacenter.

Datacenters do use real water and real power. For actual numbers, look for an operator's published sustainability report, not a parody terminal.
